Overview:
Surgical suture Polyglactin 910 synthetic absorbable suture offers excellent handling, knot security and smooth passage through tissue. The braided multifilament provides secure wound support while being absorbed completely by hydrolysis within 60-90 days. Polyglactin 910 elicits minimal tissue reaction and is an excellent choice for general soft tissue approximation.
Key Features:
- Braided multifilament structure for secure knotting
- Maintains approx. 50-60% of original tensile strength at 2 weeks
- Completely absorbed within 60-90 days
- Minimal tissue reaction during absorption
- Excellent handling and knot security
Specifications:
- Raw material: Copolymer of glycolide and lactide
- USP suture size: 2/0 to 6/0
- Needle types: Taper, cutting, reverse cutting
- Sterilization: Gamma radiation
Recommended Use:
Polyglactin 910 sutures are recommended for:
- General soft tissue approximation and ligation
- Subcutaneous tissue closure
- Ophthalmic procedures
- Orthopedic surgery
Instructions for Use:
- Select desired suture material and needle type based on surgical needs
- Open suture package and inspect for damage. Discard if compromised.
- Grasp needle with surgical forceps and pass through tissue.
- Tie knots securely using appropriate surgical technique.
- Cut excess suture thread with scissors.
Precautions:
- Avoid prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.
- Store in cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
- Discard open packages after use.
Caution:
- Polyglactin 910 sutures are not indicated for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues. Consult manufacturer’s recommendations before use.
- Care should be taken when handling surgical needles to avoid inadvertent needle sticks. Discard used needles into approved sharps containers.
- Absorbable sutures may elicit an inflammatory reaction in tissues. Monitor wound healing and consider early suture removal if required.
- Improper technique may reduce tensile strength and lead to premature absorption of suture. Follow instructions for use carefully.
- Do not use if package is damaged or sterility compromised. Contents sterile unless opened or damaged.
- Polyglactin 910 sutures should not be used where prolonged wound support is required beyond the time for natural healing.
- Do not resterilize. Discard opened packages and unused sutures after procedure.
- Polyglactin 910 sutures are not intended for cardiovascular, ophthalmic, or neurological tissues. Consult manufacturer’s guidelines before use.
