Project Description
Silk Braided Suture — Non-Absorbable | Bulk Supplier China | CE ISO13485
Shanghai Even Medical supplies CE and ISO 13485-certified Silk Braided surgical sutures to medical distributors, hospital procurement teams, and surgical supply importers worldwide. One of the most widely used non-absorbable sutures in clinical history, available in black and ivory, USP 6/0–2, sterilized by gamma radiation. OEM and private-label options available. Item No: E20001.
Key Features
- Established Clinical Standard — Silk braided suture has been the reference non-absorbable suture in general surgery, cardiovascular, and ophthalmic procedures for decades.
- Excellent Knot Security — Braided construction provides superior knot tie-down and security compared to monofilament alternatives, with consistent handling across USP sizes.
- Two Color Options — Black for high visibility in most tissue types; ivory for procedures where a more neutral appearance is preferred.
- Gamma Radiation Sterilization — Validated sterilization with no residue; batch sterility certificates available per order.
- CE & ISO 13485 Certified — Full regulatory documentation available for EU, Gulf, and ASEAN import submissions.
- OEM Available — Custom labeling, packaging design, and multi-language text for distributors and brand owners.

Clinical Applications
Silk braided suture is the non-absorbable suture of choice across a broad range of surgical specialties:
- General surgery (soft tissue approximation, ligation)
- Cardiovascular surgery (vessel ligation, pericardial closure)
- Ophthalmic surgery (fine USP sizes 6/0–8/0)
- Oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Orthopedic surgery (tendon repair, soft tissue fixation)
- Neurological surgery
- Skin closure where suture removal is planned
Note: As a natural fiber, silk undergoes gradual degradation in tissue over years and is considered a non-permanent suture in long-term implant scenarios. For permanent cardiovascular applications, synthetic non-absorbables such as Polyester or Polypropylene may be preferred.
Silk vs Other Non-Absorbable Sutures
| Suture | Structure | Tensile Strength | Knot Security | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silk (E20001) | Braided | Good | Excellent | General, cardiovascular, ophthalmic |
| Polyester (E20002) | Braided | Very High | Excellent | Cardiovascular, hernia, orthopedic |
| Nylon (E20003) | Monofilament | High | Good | Skin closure, plastic surgery |
| Polypropylene (E20004) | Monofilament | Very High | Moderate | Cardiovascular, hernia mesh, plastic |
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MOQ for Silk Braided sutures?
MOQ depends on specifications. Contact us via Quick Quote with your USP size, needle type, and quantity — we respond within 24 hours.
Is silk suture truly non-absorbable?
Silk is classified as non-absorbable because it does not undergo rapid hydrolytic or enzymatic breakdown. However, as a natural protein fiber it does slowly degrade in tissue over a period of years. For applications requiring permanent synthetic support — such as cardiovascular implants — Polyester (E20002) or Polypropylene (E20004) sutures are the preferred alternative.
What is the difference between black and ivory silk suture?
Black silk is dyed for high visibility against most tissue types, making suture placement and removal easier. Ivory (undyed) silk is preferred in procedures where a neutral appearance is clinically or aesthetically preferred, such as certain oral or ophthalmic applications. Both are identical in performance specifications.
What documentation is available for import?
CE Declaration of Conformity, ISO 13485 certificate, batch gamma radiation sterility certificate, COA, and MSDS. Additional market-specific documents available on request.
What is the shelf life?
3–5 years from manufacture date under recommended storage conditions (cool, dry, away from direct sunlight).
Can I order samples first?
Yes. Sample lead time is 5–7 business days. Request via Quick Quote form — specify USP size, color, and needle type needed.
