Polypropylene Monofilament  Suture — Prolene Equivalent | Bulk Supplier China | CE ISO13485

Shanghai Even Medical supplies CE and ISO 13485-certified Polypropylene Monofilament surgical sutures to medical distributors, hospital procurement teams, and surgical supply importers worldwide. A widely used Prolene equivalent offering permanent inert support, available in blue, USP 6/0–3, sterilized by gamma radiation. OEM and private-label options available. Item No: E20004.

Key Features

  • Prolene Equivalent — Manufactured to equivalent specifications as Prolene-type polypropylene sutures at competitive bulk pricing. CE certified, not a branded product.
  • Truly Permanent and Inert — Polypropylene is completely non-degrading in tissue, retaining tensile strength indefinitely with minimal tissue reactivity — the gold standard for cardiovascular and hernia applications.
  • Lowest Tissue Drag of All Sutures — Ultra-smooth monofilament surface provides exceptional gliding through tissue, critical for running sutures in vascular anastomosis and skin closure.
  • Excelente elasticidade — Unique memory and elasticity allows the suture to accommodate post-operative swelling without cutting through tissue.
  • Gamma Radiation Sterilization — Validated sterilization with no residue; batch sterility certificates available per order.
  • CE & ISO 13485 Certified — Full regulatory documentation available for EU, Gulf, and ASEAN import submissions.
  • OEM Available — Custom labeling, packaging design, and multi-language text for distributors and brand owners.

Clinical Applications

Polypropylene monofilament suture is the preferred choice for cardiovascular surgery and any application requiring permanent biologically inert support:

  • Cardiovascular surgery (vascular anastomosis, valve repair, coronary artery bypass)
  • Hernia repair and mesh fixation
  • Plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Skin closure (running subcuticular technique)
  • Ophthalmic surgery (finer USP sizes)
  • Tendon repair
  • General surgery requiring permanent inert closure

The combination of permanent inertness, low tissue drag, and elasticity makes polypropylene the suture of choice for vascular anastomosis and running cardiovascular suture lines.

Polypropylene vs Other Non-Absorbable Sutures

Suture Structure Permanence Tissue Drag Best For
Polypropylene (E20004) Monofilament Fully inert Lowest Cardiovascular, hernia, plastic
Nylon (E20003) Monofilament Slow hydrolysis Baixa Skin, plastic, ophthalmic
Polyester (E20002) Braided Fully permanent Moderado Cardiovascular, hernia, orthopedic
Silk (E20001) Braided Gradual degradation Moderado General, oral, ophthalmic

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MOQ for Polypropylene sutures?

MOQ depends on specifications. Contact us via Quick Quote with your USP size, needle type, and quantity — we respond within 24 hours.

Is this the same as Prolene?

Polypropylene Suture (E20004) is manufactured to equivalent specifications as Prolene-type polypropylene sutures (Ethicon). It is not a branded product — it is a CE-certified generic equivalent available at competitive bulk pricing.

What is the difference between Polypropylene and Nylon monofilament sutures?

Both are smooth monofilament non-absorbable sutures, but polypropylene is completely biologically inert and retains tensile strength permanently, while nylon undergoes slow hydrolysis losing approximately 15–20% tensile strength per year. Polypropylene also has lower tissue drag and better elasticity, making it the preferred choice for cardiovascular surgery. For skin closure where sutures will be removed, either works well — nylon (E20003) is often chosen for cost reasons. See our Nylon Monofilament Suture page for comparison.

Why is Polypropylene preferred over Polyester for vascular anastomosis?

Polypropylene monofilament has lower tissue drag than polyester braided, allowing smoother passage through delicate vessel walls with less trauma. Its elasticity also accommodates vessel pulsation better than braided sutures. Polyester braided (E20002) is preferred for valve repair and annuloplasty where knot security is the priority over smooth passage.

What documentation is available for import?

CE Declaration of Conformity, ISO 13485 certificate, batch gamma radiation sterility certificate, COA, and MSDS. Additional market-specific documents available on request.

Can I order samples first?

Yes. Sample lead time is 5–7 business days. Request via Quick Quote form — specify USP size and needle type needed.
